US raises tariffs on South Korea

The US Department of Commerce began annual administrative reviews on March 9, 2026, examining existing antidumping and countervailing duties on several major wood product imports. The final results are expected by January 31, 2027.

The review includes Canadian softwood lumber, covered under antidumping order A-122-857 and countervailing duty order C-122-858, for shipments entering the United States between January 1 and December 31, 2025.

The process will also cover Chinese certain hardwood plywood under antidumping order A-570-051 and Chinese wooden bedroom furniture under antidumping order A-570-890, both for imports during 2025.

The Commerce Department said it may limit the number of companies examined and will select respondents based on US import data or quantity-and-value questionnaires. Relevant data will be placed on the record within five days of the initiation notice, with respondent selection expected within 35 days.

For the wooden bedroom furniture review, exporters must submit quantity-and-value responses within 21 days, while applications for separate-rate status are due within 14 days.

The United States remains China’s largest export market for wood furniture, accounting for 27% of total exports. However, shipments to the US fell 7.1% to 129.4 million pieces, while export value declined 20% to $5.6 billion. The average export price dropped 14% to $43 per piece.
