In January-May 2016 Russia managed to increase its exports of log and lumber against the respective period of the last year, indicates the statistical data provided by the Russian Federal Customs Service.
Thus, during the first 5 months of the current year, Russia exported 8.181 million m3 of unprocessed wood. In the respective period, the total amount of the Russian log exports came up to $560.9 million. In January-May 2015 Russian log exports reached 7.498 million m3 in volume terms, and $564.3 million in value terms. Therefore, in January-May 2016, Russian log exports grew in volume by 9.1%, but reduced in value by the insignificant 0.69%.
The similar situation was observed in the Russian lumber exports sector. In January-May 2016, total Russian lumber exports in volume terms reached 6.549 million tons. That is 14.11% more than in the respective period of the last year when the total exports of the Russian log in volume terms came up to 5.739 million tons. The total Russian lumber exports in value terms were down by 4.42% – from $1,312 million in January-May 2015 to $1,254 million in the same period of 2016.
