Stocks of pulpwood and pulp chips in Sweden increased by just over 30% during the second quarter of 2025, according to statistics from the Swedish Forest Agency.
As of June 30, total timber inventories amounted to 9.7 million cubic meters fub, an increase from the same period last year, largely due to larger stocks of pulpwood and pulp chips.
Pulpwood stocks rose by 31% to 5.9 million cubic meters, while pulp chip stocks increased by 32% to 1.3 million cubic meters.
Stocks of softwood logs reached 2.6 million cubic meters, up 2% compared with June 2024.
Broken down by species, softwood pulpwood stocks increased by 25%, while hardwood pulpwood stocks rose by 63% compared with June 2024. The hardwood pulp stocks are 60% larger than the average for the corresponding period 2020–2024, the Swedish Forest Agency reported.
