Prices for several lumber and stud items moved higher, while panel prices continued to lag behind.
In the week ending January 16, 2026, the price of the benchmark softwood lumber item Western Spruce-Pine-Fir 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$450 mfbm, according to Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This marked an increase of $24, or 6%, from the previous week, when the price stood at $426 mfbm.
The price was also $58, or 15%, higher than one month earlier, when it was $392 mfbm. Compared with the same week last year, when the price was $445 mfbm, the latest level represented an increase of $5, or 1%. Compared with two years ago, when the price was $442 mfbm, it was up $8, or 2%.
In the same week, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) reached US$470 mfbm. This was up $20, or 4%, from the previous week, when the price was $450 mfbm.
On a month-on-month basis, the price was $102, or 28%, higher than one month earlier, when it stood at $368 mfbm. Compared with the same week last year, when the price was $442 mfbm, it was up $28, or 6%. Compared with two years ago, when the price was $460 mfbm, it increased by $10, or 2%.
