Brexit is becoming an increasing problem for the German furniture industry, according to the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM).
"Already since 2016 our furniture exports to the United Kingdom have been continuously shrinking," said VDM general delegate Jan Kurth.
Until the end of 2019, exports decreased by 11%, down to a total of 690 million euros. A drop all the more noticeable since during the same period, exports to the EU countries increased by 9%.
The United Kingdom is the 5th market in the German furniture industry and the VDM fears that this destination will still suffer from the consequences of Brexit.
