Finland: foreign trade in roundwood and forest industry products in Jan 2018

In January Finland’s wood imports totalled 0.60 million cubic metres, being 17% lower than the monthly average in the previous year, reports Natural Resource Institute Finland (Luke).

78% of the wood imported in Finland in January 2018 originated from Russia, 11% from Estonia and 7% from Latvia. Most of the imported wood was represented by pulpwood and chips. Over half of the imports amount was represented by pulpwood. The share of chips was 33% and the share of logs was 6%.

The export value of the Finnish forest industry products totalled EUR 1.09 billion in January. Compared to January 2017, the exports value increased by 5% (deflated using whole sale price index, 1949=100).
