For several years, flooring manufacturers have exhibited herringbone parquet at the Domotex and BAU trade fairs. At first only as an experiment. That's about six to eight years ago. Since then, more and more suppliers offer herringbone parquet. At the moment, one can no longer speak of a niche, especially because the world's largest laminate producer Swiss Krono also offers a herringbone laminate product. New are herringbone floors with click and fold-down connections. Here is an overview of the new suppliers of herringbone flooring that Fordaq has found at the two fairs.
Herringbone with click - parquet, multilayer and laminate
The Norwegian manufacturer Boen Parkett has presented the 3-layer Parquet Herringbone Click at BAU. The strips have a dimension of 138 x 690 mm and are 14 mm thick. They are equipped with the Välinge 5G click system. From April 2019, the two oak varieties Adagio and Adagio White will be available.
The strips of the 3-layer herringbone parquet of the Estonian parquet manufacturer Esta Parkett are 160x1120 mm comparatively long and wide. At 14 mm thickness they have almost a plank format. The parquet is available with Unilin click connection or with tongue and groove. It can be laid floating or glued. For floating installation, the click connection must be glued on four sides according to the manufacturer. According to Esta, the herringbone parquet is mainly distributed in Scandinavia, in particular Denmark. 90% is sold with oak surface, and 10% in ash.
The Belgian veneer flooring specialist Decospan has presented a herringbone veneer floor with fold-down click connection under the name Pattern Floor at BAU, where the company was represented for the first time. Unilin's Unifit X compound is expected to cut laying time by 30%. All veneer floors of Decospan are to be converted to the Unifit X fold-down system.
US Floors brings eight COREtec decors of its Naturals collection in the form of a Herringbone Click. The multilayer strips are provided with varnished V-groove. They are designed as A and B strips with a click connection. The dimensions of the individual strips are 110x660 mm at 8 mm thickness. The PVC wear layer is 0.55 mm thick. The backside is made of cork. The launch is planned for March.
And also the world's largest laminate manufacturer Swiss Krono presented a click laminate with herringbone pattern for the first time at BAU. The collection Herringbone includes 8 decors, seven of them in oak and a stone decor. The individual strips are produced as A and B strips with the dimensions 665 mm x 133 mm.
In addition, other parquet manufacturers have taken up the topic of herringbone
The Swedish parquet manufacturer Kährs has developed new products for its contract business, which is promoted more strongly. Among them are seven herringbone patterns in the Herringbone Collection, exclusively in oak. The parquet is designed as a two-layer single strip with a core of birch plywood. The strips have a dimension of 120 x 600 mm with a thickness of 11 mm. The wear layer is 3.8 mm thick.
The German manufacturer Jaso brings two two-ply parquet types, which can be laid both as a herringbone and as a cube shape, with the dimensions 490 x 70 mm in 10 mm thickness, on the one hand the Duo-Line collection with natural wood surface, on the other hand, completely new, the Mikado collection with fineline finish in oak, smoked oak or sycamore maple. Mikado is characterized by a particularly high Brinell hardness and has as a design element a contrasting glue joint in the Fineline.
From March on, the Italian manufacturer Florian Legno offers an oak-herringbone parquet. The strips are available in widths of 92 mm, 110 mm and 152 mm. The length is uniformly 680 mm, the thickness 15 mm.
The wood agency "We are Wood" has come to the topic of herringbone. Thanks to its dimensions, the 3-layer Artisano small-plank is 120x600 mm, 12 mm thick, can be laid as a herringbone or cube-shaped. The core is made of pine or the light tropical wood Albasia. The decks are 80% oak, along with walnut, maple, doussie, merbau, cherry, smoked oak, teak. Also special dimensions are possible, eg 120x120 mm, for inlays.

Formpark Quadrato is available in the three colors oak, oak crema and smoked oak - without chamfers and brushing. It is also available with the tough B-Protect® surface treatment. Due to the 45° angle, Formpark Rombico is suitable for laying a French herringbone. The surface is brushed.
As early as October 2018, Polish manufacturer Barlinek launched a herringbone parquet called Pure Classico Line. The collection consists of six oak surfaces, two in gray and four in brown. The dimensions of the strips are 13 x 725 mm at 14 mm thickness and 2.5 mm wear layer. Further dimensions are planned. The special feature: here there are no right and left strips, but only one universal strip, which the herringbone parquet can be laid with.
