W.Rococo Revival Rosewood Arm Chair J.W. MEEKS c. 1860 Stanton Hall Pattern---1500Euro
Up for your consideration is a Rococo Revival rosewood armchair by J. & J.W. Meeks, circa 1860. The chair is in the Stanton Hall pattern, formed from sheets of laminated rosewood, and hand pierce carved into a deep relief. The chair features a stuffover seat and is raised on cabriole legs ending in casters. The pieces are each 44" tall, 26" wide, and 26" deep. Overall, the piece is in excellent condition. There is some general wear to the piece, commensurate with age. There is one piece of scrollwork under the arm missing, about .75" x .75", see last photo. There is also some chipping to the top carving, see second to last photo. Neither of these affect the overall look of this very fine piece. |
