Random Lengths Lumber Market Report
Sales were spotty and cracks developed in a few key framing lumber prices. However, the market’s delicate supply-demand balance was evident as trading stirred in Western S-P-F late Thursday. Amid both upticks in key dry items and softness in green Fir, the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price ticked up $1, to $416. Meanwhile, veteran traders of the 1-inch board market noted that supplies were as scarce as they had seen in many years.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
Structural panel trading faded. OSB sales marked another quiet week. Price cracks developed in some regions, as a few producers sought orders to plug holes in next week’s shipping schedule. Quiet trading in Southern Pine plywood had little effect on prices. Most producers were content to hold to recent price lists, even though they found it tough to sell a week’s worth of output. Western Fir plywood mills discounted their offerings of sheathing to varying degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, sparking sales and moving order files into the weeks of March 11 and 18.
