Le chêne est actuellement un bois très demandé, mais il cause des soucis aux scieurs allemands. Les prix pour toutes les qualités de chêne ont augmenté rapidement aux enchères cet hiver. Steffen Rathke, porte-parole des scieries de feuillus à la VDS (la fédération allemande de l'industrie de sciage), a peur que ses collègues commencent à spéculer et il leur dit: "Celui qui continue de payer plus dans l'avenir, ne peut plus gagner d'argent."
