Germany: Pellet Prices in October 2011

For October, the German fuelwood and pellet Association (DEPV) reports an average price for wood pellets of € 232.76 per tonne. This is a seasonally-related slight increase of 1.3 percent over the previous month and of 2.3 percent compared to the reference in 2010. A kilowatt hour of heat from pellets costs 4.75 Cents, a kilogram of pellets costs 0.23 euros. Thus, heating with pellets is 43 percent cheaper than with oil and about 30 percent cheaper compared to gas.
