In Austria, supply of softwood logs has increased significantly in recent weeks. Loggers and timber carriers are currently busy. Predominantly supply of logs is good and demand has been corrected. After some small but regional price increases in September, log prices has begun to stabilize. In Carinthia and Tyrol a surpassing supply already led to falling prices. Currently, short-term contracts are the norm, reflecting some incertitude about the future development on the lumber markets.

Demand for all industrial assortments is active, timber runs of quickly. Prices for softwood logs for mechanical pulp rose slightly, sales are taking place continously. In Lower Austria, all assortments for wood based panels are showing sharp price increases up to € 5/AMM.

The good demand for all fuelwood assortments is still undiminished. In long-term contracts, prices of biomass are showing a stable upward trend. Storage purchase for the coming heating season and persisting needs of larger customers are causing a stable demand.
