At the trade fair Bau in Munich glulam (BSH) producers showed a cautious reliance in rising glulam prices. By the middle of February prices could increase by up to € 15/m³, they expect. Currently, dealers are filling their stocks. The broadening demand is not attributed to the rising steel price, but to a backlog in construction of industrial buildings. While markets in Spain and in the UK are performing better, sales in Italy remain difficult. Market participants estimate that the glulam volume sold in Italy in 2010 fell to 850 to 870,000 m³. Therefore prices in Italy are showing the greatest fluctuation.
