The price of wood pellets in Germany has slightly declined in June. German EN-plus A1 pellets cost now an average of 237.87 per tonne, 0.9 percent lower than in May and 5 percent less than in June 2014. The price advantage of wood pellets over fuel oil is currently 23 percent.

''Consumers should benefit now of the favorable summer prices and fill their warehouses,'' says Martin Bentele, managing director of the German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV). Due to better production, pellets in the summer are usually cheaper than in the winter months. Bentele advises consumers to start their pellet supplies for the winter season.

In June 2015, wood pellets in Germany recorded the following regional differences: in southern Germany, pellets cost 236.46 EUR/t for 6t purchases. In central Germany for the same amount of pellets the price is 237.09 EUR/t, while in north/east 241.40 EUR/t.

Larger quantities (26 t) were traded in June 2015 at the following prices: 221 EUR/t in central Germany, 223.07 EUR/t in south and 223.43 EUR/t in north/east (all including VAT).
