Germany doubles imports of pine sawlogs

By November 2013, Germany’s imports of pine sawlogs increased by 92%, according to the latest figures provided by Eurostat. Poland by far leads the way as the main supplier of pine sawlogs for Germany with a total value of EUR 52,2 million and a share of of 84% the overall German imports.

Germany is clearly becoming an importer of pine sawlogs: the balance imports/exports was 84% in favor of imports in Jan.-Nov. 2013. Exports amounted only EUR 12,5 million recording an yearly -23% decrease. 

Noticeable is the fact that in 2012 German imports of pine sawlogs dipped -23% and the import/export trade balance was 69% in favor of imports.
