Last update of Fordaq price index for hardwood logs for sale alongside the road before the summer.
OAK :
Oak is ending the season at a slower pace, quality logs are still expensive but lower qualities tend to go down a little. This is expected to continue in the coming months.
BEECH :
Beech keeps going down as market is still very weak. Can it still reach lower prices?
CHERRY : Only the very special logs are still sought for, in a narrowing market prices of sawn timber keep falling. Is there any hope for this specie in the coming years?
ASH :
It stays stable or slightly down in a quiet market.
MAPLE (acer pseudoplatanus) :
All qualities of sawn timber are going down, only very nice logs have some value, american hard maple with the dollar exchange rate has taken over the markets.
CHESTNUT :
Small decrease in chestnut exports. Does it set a trend for next autumn or is it just the season ending calmly?
LINDEN AND BLACK LOCUST :
The demand is growing for those two species, prices are rising sharply and quality logs are now going well above the 100 EUR/m3 mark.
HORNBEAM :
Foresters are deceived by the hornbeam prices, they were expecting a better performance for this specie that had found back its market in the last years.
