Germany: Beech Lumber Exports Rest in Loss Area

Germany's Beech lumber exports are strengthening their decline. In July 2011, exports were 4.5% in the red, in August exports fell by 19% compared to the reference month last year. Even in the eight-month-calculation figures show a decrease of 2%. Similar to Beech logs, demand from China dropped.

The averaged August-prices for the major destinations of Beech lumber are: China € 274/cbm (ø I-VIII/2011: € 259/cbm), Poland € 289/cbm (270), U.S. € 384/cbm (363) India € 275/cbm (259) and the Netherlands € 270/cbm (245).
