Germany: Beech Log Exports in September 2011

In September 2011, Germany's Beech log exports declined by 23% versus the same month last year. The export value dropped by 11%. In the period of January to September, exports show still an increase of 27.7% in volume and of 37.5% in value. Exports to Sweden strongly declined in September. With the decline in pulp prices, this development will intensify in October and November. Still in the red are shipments to China. According to expectations of exporters figures will continue to decline. High volumes of deliveries to Denmark were a flash in the pan.

For the most important destinations, the following average prices can be calculated: Austria € 73.5/m³ (I-IX/2011: € 72.5/m³), China € 111/m³ (110), Sweden € 82/m³ (76), India € 127/m³ (91) and Malaysia € 165/m³ (159).
