Currently, the Swiss Beech logs market shows few activities. To make it short: logging, demand and prices are on a low level. There is just one bright spot: in exports to Asia, demand is increasing in face of high exchange rates of the Swiss francs to the US dollar. With prices for B/C-qualities, diameter class 4+, of CHF 100 to 110 CHF/m³ (free alongside forest road), correlating to € 76.4 to 84/m³, exporters make interesting offers. In any case, FSC-certification is mandatory.

On the domestic market and in Beech exports to Italy, market participants confirm the price survey by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (BFS). Beech logs for packaging is at CHF 60-65/m³. Demand from Italy has declined due to the CHF/€-exchange rate. Deliveries to Austria are no longer relevant.

Swiss log traders as well as representative of the forestry are content with the demand for Oak and Ash. Contracts closed with the parquet industry are above the BFS statistics (Oak C 3b-6: CHF 118-183/m³ or € 90-140/m³ free alongside forest road).
