APP Timber announces that it has opened a new branch office in Douala, Cameroon. The office manager is Bert Remerink, a Dutch national with extensive experience in West Africa. Bert will lead a team of African and Dutch staff to source sawn timber in the whole of West Africa.
Demand of African sawn timber is increasing in South East Asia due to the dwindling supply of legally sourced tropical sawn timber from Indonesia (and Malaysia). This has created a market for replacement species such as sapelli, bangkirai, azobe, okan, bilinga, okoume. These species are very suitable for general carpentry, construction, decoration, decking, flooring, etc. Sapelli is an approved KOMO specie and already widely used by Malaysian door - & window frame manufacturers.
APP Timber will also source species such as Pachyloba, Iroko, Wenge and Ovangkul which are widely used for the 2 & 3 layer engineered flooring.
